Health and Safety

The health and safety of our students and staff is Towne Creek’s top priority.

Health

To ensure a healthy environment, the following practices have been put into place.

Towne Creek follows the recommendations of the CDC, State and County Health department and Childcare licensing when handling communicable illnesses

Classroom

  • All teachers are First Aid/CPR certified, and they update their certification on an annual basis.
  • High touch surface areas and toys are cleaned and disinfected several times throughout the day
  • All students have individualized cribs or nap mats
  • A low teacher to student ratio is maintained within our classrooms
  • Frequent handwashing practices are followed by both teachers and students
  • Disposable gloves are worn by staff to avoid spreading germs when serving food or assisting with the sanitary needs of students
  • Students who become ill at school are moved to a separate sick room to be monitored.  Parents are called to pick up their child within the hour.
  • Students sent home due to illness are not allowed to return until they have been symptom free for a full 24 hours without the aid of medication.   If sent home midday, they will not be allowed to return the next day.
  • All teachers complete ongoing health and safety training.

Safety

  • All staff and volunteers must complete a thorough background check.
  • The Towne Creek school has secured entrances with access codes that change on a frequent basis.
  • We have cameras throughout the inside and outside of the building that can be monitored throughout the day by administrative staff
  • Emergency protocols for fire, evacuation and severe weather are practiced regularly
